Raymond woke up excited. Although the reasons were not really clear, he knew he would be receiving gifts today. Gifts were great. Since he thought in pictures instead of words, Raymond would never phrase it as suchn. However, he did understand that gifts were great.
He ran immediately to the living room. Never mind that he bypassed his mother in the breakfast nook, smiling with her arms extended.
"Raymond, come here and see what the easter bunny brought you!" He ran back, breathless and excited and looked up.
The tank was hexagonal plastic, and the fish a black, blue and red betta. Perfect coloration, with black front fading to blue rear and a fiery red tail. Truly a wonder of nature, this urban predator.

Beethoven's Appassionata vs the sound of rain
Slow breathing, son,
as the piano crescendos slowly. Rain drums the car
as we wait for mommy.
I know you're upset,
mad at the wait, but wait.
Hear the fast trills
juxtapose with soft drops
kissing the roof. Sit.
Listen.
A quick look back shows
your eyes are wide. Now
we can chat about Thomas,
tank engine extraordinaire
and Oswald the octopus.
No rain or Beethoven can
compare.
His voice rises and falls,
"fa faff faff fa fa faff"
matching tempo and bombast
to meet the Appassionata with passion.

The hard part of dealing with a vomiting child is not the actual vomit. Vomit is easy to handle. It cleans up quickly, and with the right cleaning products the smell is gone. The hardest part is seeing your child vomit, trying to comfort him as his world turns upside down and sideways. He knows that food isn't supposed to come back up, and it terrifies him. Comfort is the hardest part. The rest is cleanup.

a poem for raymond
(quest)
ion drive pushes forward
and your eyes light
with joy and curiousity.
(thought)
full of eveything you see,
your gaze is a dragon
devouring the room.
(care)
less the danger,
less the interest level.
reckless boy, my heart stops f0r you.

New blog:forms,formats & formulas
For anyone reading, this is my mobile blog. That means it will be about whatever I see when I see it. Observations will be unfetterred and raw, and may contain objectionable language. I will flag anything too vulgar or obnoxious. Also, feel free to comment. I am trying to hone my writing skills, so constructive criticism is welcome. Enjoy!
